Influence of Robotic and Thoracoscopic Surgery on Early Postoperative Systemic Inflammatory Response in Patients With Surgically Treated Lung Cancer—Preliminary Results

This retrospective study compared early postoperative inflammatory responses after VATS versus robotic lung resection for non-small cell lung cancer. Although robotic surgery was associated with higher inflammatory markers, this did not translate into increased postoperative complications, including persistent air leak. From a chest drain management perspective, the findings suggest that despite differing inflammatory profiles, minimally invasive approaches have comparable air leak outcomes, supporting similar postoperative drain strategies for VATS and RATS.
